The municipality of Sant Jaume dels Domenys is embracing shared self-consumption with a new photovoltaic generation project that will benefit residents and businesses, supported by the Diputació de Tarragona.

The Sant Jaume dels Domenys Energy Community has launched a sustainable and participatory energy model. This initiative will allow both residents and businesses located within a five-kilometer radius to access renewable energy generated within the municipality itself.
The project foresees an installed capacity of 41 kW, reinforcing the commitment to shared self-consumption and local energy. This will be the first installation promoted by the energy community Demà Domenys en Marxa and the first of its kind in the Baix Penedès region.
To make this possible, the Energy Community has signed an agreement with the Societat Cultural i Recreativa de Sant Jaume dels Domenys. This entity will provide the rooftops of its café and theater for the installation of photovoltaic panels, transforming these emblematic spaces into key points for clean and shared energy production.
The Diputació de Tarragona has shown its support for the project, subsidizing the necessary investment for its realization. The installation is scheduled for this summer. The proposal was presented at the entity's assembly last April, where options for a shared electric vehicle were also explored, an initiative framed within the SolarCoop subsidy from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
