A woman fell from a bridge on the AP-7 in the municipality of El Vendrell, causing the northbound highway to be blocked for an hour and affecting holiday travel.

Traffic on the AP-7 highway northbound was blocked shortly before 8:00 PM this Saturday near kilometer 217, within the municipality of El Vendrell, in the Baix Penedès region. The incident occurred after a woman fell from a bridge.
The emergency alert was received at 7:44 PM. The woman did not hit any vehicles, thus avoiding an additional traffic accident. When the first emergency responders arrived, the woman was still alive.
Patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police), units from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters), and several ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) responded to the scene. The woman was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
The highway closure caused significant traffic problems during the holiday travel period, with queues extending over three kilometers towards Barcelona. The Mossos d'Esquadra opened one lane to alleviate congestion while emergency teams attended to the victim.
Traffic was almost fully restored shortly before 9:00 PM, one hour after the closure began.
