The promenade at Barca Maria beach in Badalona remains closed after the strong storm on Tuesday caused severe structural damage, prompting the City Council to request urgent action from Costas (Coastal Authorities).

The situation along the Barca Maria beach promenade, 24 hours after the strong easterly storm, remains highly concerning. Its current condition makes reopening impossible, as it presents serious structural damage that poses a real danger to public safety.
This section is a key connection route between Badalona and Montgat, used daily by pedestrians, runners, cyclists, and many minors. The storm caused a collapse of a large part of the structure, leaving the promenade completely impassable and without lighting due to several fallen lampposts.

The municipal government will request that the area be declared an emergency zone to accelerate the necessary procedures and works.

The Mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, announced that he will ask Costas for urgent action to repair the damaged section. Municipal sources admit that the recovery of this key space for mobility and recreational use could take a long time.
