Cold Forces Closure of Llefià and Sant Roc Libraries in Badalona

A persistent failure in the climate control system prevented the reopening of the facilities after Epiphany, leaving the city's library network severely limited.

The Llefià and Sant Roc libraries in Badalona have closed again after Epiphany due to a climate control system failure, making it impossible to guarantee minimum conditions for users and staff.

This situation is not new; the same facilities already closed last summer due to excessive heat caused by a similar air conditioning failure. Now, the problem repeats with low temperatures, leaving citizens without service.
The case of the Llefià library is particularly serious, as the closure has forced the suspension of the night study service scheduled to start this week, generating outrage among students and residents.
Municipal sources indicated that the Lloreda library will provisionally take over part of the service. Nevertheless, the reality is that Badalona, with over 226,000 inhabitants, currently only has three operational libraries: Canyadó, Pomar, and Lloreda.
Adding to this precariousness is the blockage of the Can Casacuberta library project, which has been stalled for six years, and the lack of heating in the Sala d’estudis del Carme, highlighting the fragility of the local library network.
