The Badia del Vallès City Council today presented the new municipal market model to be implemented with a 1.4 million euro investment financed by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB).

The comprehensive renovation of the Badia del Vallès market is part of the economic transformations announced by the municipality during 2025. The project aims to turn the facility into a reference point for residents of Badia and the entire Vallès Occidental region.
The main novelty of the plan is the creation of a gastronomic and tasting area. This area is designed to complement traditional shopping, offering a new leisure and dining option for users. Mayor Josep Martínez Valencia (PSC) highlighted gastronomy and user experience as central pillars of the new approach.

"We want the market to be a driver of social dynamism."

The intervention also plans to improve accessibility, expanding the entrance from Plaça Major and enabling all four doors of the enclosure. According to municipal forecasts, works will begin in late 2027 and will be executed without interrupting the commercial activity of the stallholders.
In parallel, the council will process new concessions once the current contracts expire, scheduled for October 2027. The City Council considers the involvement of vendors key to adjusting the project to the real needs of the commercial sector.
