The infrastructure manager, Adif, confirmed the speed limitation, which applies to the route between Mejorada del Campo, near Madrid, and Cetina, 30 kilometers from Calatayud. This decision was made after train drivers reported vibrations and bumps on the affected section.
Maintenance technicians will inspect the infrastructure during the night on Tuesday, and the restriction could be lifted if the inspection confirms that 'everything is fine,' according to Adif sources. The instruction comes shortly after the tragic rail accident in Adamuz, which resulted in 41 fatalities and whose causes are still under investigation.
“"A move by Semaf to boycott railway operations and take advantage of the moment."
In parallel, drivers on the high-speed line are taking extreme precautions and regulating speed when detecting vibrations, exercising the authority granted by the majority union, Semaf. This organization had already complained in August about the condition of some high-speed tracks to Adif and the State Railway Safety Agency (AESF), requesting a speed reduction to 250 km/h on the most problematic sections, which now coincide with the limited point.
