Researcher Arnau Vives, a professor at the Universitat de Barcelona and originally from Valls, has been awarded the prestigious José Manuel Blecua Prize for his analysis of the metaphor of the friend and the beloved in the work of Ramon Llull.

The award, granted by the Social Council of the University of Barcelona and the Bosch Gimpera Foundation, recognizes the best article published in a recognized journal within the field of humanities and social sciences.
Vives' research, who is a professor at the Faculty of Philology and Communication at the Universitat de Barcelona, focused on studying over 3,000 fragments of Ramon Llull's work. The goal was to dissect his most famous metaphor, that of the friend and the beloved, which expresses the relationship between the human being and God.
The awarded article is titled Una nova interpretació de la imatge lul·liana de l'amic i l'amat a partir de la seva diacronia: metàfora, tema i símbol and was published in the specialized journal Magnificat: cultura i literatura medievals.
During the research process, Arnau Vives developed the Corpus Digital d'Amic i Amat (CDAIA), a digital tool currently hosted in the Ramon Llull Database and managed by the Ramon Llull Documentation Center at the UB.
The awards from the Social Council and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation aim to distinguish high-quality research carried out by young investigators and promote the social return of knowledge generated at the Universitat de Barcelona.
