The Barcelona City Council has raised the Municipal Action Plan for strong winds to the alert phase due to the powerful gusts affecting the Catalan capital this Friday. The measure involves the preventive closure of all parks and gardens in the city.
Civil Protection issued an alert indicating that winds could exceed 72 km/h. This decision followed reports that the Barcelona Fire Department had to handle 15 wind-related calls in the last hour alone.
Extreme caution is advised when carrying out outdoor activities and be alert to tree branches that may break off due to the wind.
Authorities advise residents indoors to ensure doors and windows are closed, shutters are lowered, and to remove any objects (pots, fixed elements) from balconies and facades that could fall onto the street. Drivers are also urged to moderate speed and be cautious of sudden wind gusts.
