With the arrival of spring and an increase in visitors, the Catalan capital is re-implementing paid parking along its coastline. The primary goal of this initiative is to facilitate vehicle rotation and ensure that more citizens can access the beaches by private transport.
The regulation will be enforced daily, including holidays, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The maximum allowed parking time will be two hours. This measure will be in effect for six months, coinciding with the peak beach season.
The 316 blue zone spaces will be distributed across three main streets in the neighborhoods of Vila Olímpica del Poblenou and Poblenou. Specifically, they will be located on Avenida d’Icària (83 spaces between Joan Miró street and La Llacuna passage), Salvador Espriu street (89 spaces between Frederic Mompou street and La Llacuna passage), and Avenida del Litoral (147 spaces between Joan Miró street and La Jonquera street).
Parking costs will vary based on the vehicle's environmental badge and the demand of the area, classified into Rate A (higher demand) and Rate B (other regulated zones). For instance, a vehicle with a 0 emissions badge will pay €1.25/hour in Rate A and €1.15/hour in Rate B, while a vehicle without a badge will pay €3.75/hour and €3.50/hour, respectively.
To simplify payment, the Barcelona City Council recommends using the free mobile application SMOU, which allows digital payment for parking and charges only for the actual time used.
