The Bicing shared public bicycle system in Barcelona has been ranked as the best in Spain and the fourth most successful globally, according to an analysis by the consulting firm Impulso published in January 2026.

This recognition is based on the analysis Guide to Good Practices for the Implementation of Public Bicycle Systems and highlights the ratio of 4.7 bicycles per 1,000 inhabitants in the Catalan capital.
Globally, Bicing is only surpassed by the systems in cities such as Paris, New York, and Mexico City, cementing its position as a benchmark for sustainable mobility.

"This distinction is not a statistical anecdote, but the expression of an active public mobility model, well-dimensioned and used by citizens in their daily lives."

Laia Bonet · First Deputy Mayor and President of BSM
Following its latest expansion in July 2025, the service managed by Barcelona Serveis Municipals (BSM) operates a fleet of 8,000 bicycles, 60% of which are electric. The year 2025 closed with record figures: 166,457 subscribers and nearly 20 million registered uses.
