The closure of the park was ordered after the Besòs River reached a flow rate of 61.8 m³/s and a level of nearly one meter (98.732 centimeters), according to data from the Catalan Water Agency (ACA). Protecció Civil activated the Alert phase of the emergency plan and warned of a possible overflow of the central channel during the afternoon. The flow, although high, was lower than that recorded during the intense rains of November 6.
The episode had its greatest impact in the city of Badalona, where flooding was reported in streets and ground floors of buildings. Furthermore, the Gorg metro station had to be closed due to water ingress, affecting lines L2 and L3. In total, the 112 emergency telephone received 511 calls related to the incident, with 59.58% of the warnings concentrated in the Barcelonès area.
The Generalitat Firefighters carried out 165 rain-related services until 6:00 PM, concentrating most operations in the Metropolitan North Emergency Region. Of the 33 warnings counted in this operational region, 24 were concentrated solely in Badalona, although an improvement in the situation was reported late in the afternoon.
The Catalan Meteorological Service (SMC) had issued a warning for showers that could exceed 100 liters per square meter in 24 hours in Badalona. Mobility disruptions were significant, with “many simultaneous incidents” on urban and interurban roads in the Barcelonès, and delays of more than 20 minutes on Rodalies commuter trains (lines R2 and R2 South) due to speed restrictions linked to the rain alert.
