The company BIT, together with the Consorci de la Zona Franca and Masiques, has announced the construction of a new coffee terminal in the Port of Barcelona, capable of managing the majority of national imports.

This strategic project, driven by Bunge Ibérica (BIT), the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), and the logistics operator Masiques, aims to centralize and optimize the reception, storage, and distribution of green coffee. The terminal will be crucial for the national supply of this raw material.
The facility is expected to handle approximately 80% of the coffee imports arriving in Spain, consolidating the Port of Barcelona as a central hub for the logistics of this product. The collaboration between the three entities ensures the necessary efficiency and capacity for such a high volume.
The chosen location within the Zona Franca (Free Zone) will allow for efficient connection with land and sea transport networks, facilitating rapid distribution to the main roasters and consumption centers across the Iberian Peninsula. This investment underscores the importance of Barcelona as a commercial gateway to southern Europe.
