Originally founded in 1858 by Fèlix Falguera, who was the dean of the Catalan Notarial College in the 19th century, the magazine La Notaría has witnessed the evolution of preventive and civil Catalan law for over 160 years. Its inception preceded the Notarial Law of 1862.
Following a period of strategic reflection, the publication returns with the goal of being "more open, more technical, and more influential," seeking to attract not only practicing notaries but also academics, registrars, lawyers, and law students.
“"We want it to be cutting-edge in matters of international, comparative, and, of course, Catalan Law."
One of the pillars of the relaunch, presented this Wednesday at the Notarial College headquarters in Barcelona (on Carrer del Notariat, in the Raval district), is the improvement of its digital platform. While the print edition is maintained, online access to its historical archive and latest technical content is being enhanced.
The magazine, which was formerly the diffusion organ for the Barcelona Legal School, now seeks to project the knowledge of Catalan notaries to the rest of the legal world. The College headquarters houses original notarial protocols from Barcelona dating back to the 13th century.
