Ciutat de Granada street, located near Glòries square in Barcelona, has been permanently closed to traffic since January 15 as part of its definitive conversion into a pedestrian area.

This transformation is a key component of the new phase of the Trambesòs works, aiming to integrate the future tram route along Avinguda Diagonal. The permanent closure affects the section between Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and the Diagonal.
The Barcelona City Council confirmed that access to the shopping center's parking lot remains operational. This initial phase involves installing new services, the platform, and the catenary system for the tram, which will run along the Diagonal.
The project will allow the tracks currently running along the Gran Via to turn onto the Diagonal via Ciutat de Granada, thus completing the connection between all tram lines. This action is intended to significantly improve pedestrian connectivity between Glòries and the Diagonal.
The entire project is promoted by the City Council and the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM), with a total budget of 32.54 million euros. The works are expected to be completed by Spring 2027.
