A fire that broke out this Palm Sunday at the Port of Barcelona generated an impressive column of black smoke, visible from the Catalan capital and nearby municipalities such as L'Hospitalet, El Prat, and Cornellà.

The incident, which occurred at midday, affected several tractors used for hauling containers at the Grimaldi cruise terminal, according to initial reports published by El Periódico.
Despite the dramatic flames and dense smoke, which could be seen several kilometers away, port authorities confirmed that no personal injuries were reported. They also assured that no hazardous substances were burned, minimizing risk to the public.

It is a spectacular fire, but one in which no injuries are to be regretted.

Several units from the Barcelona Fire Department quickly responded to the scene to control and extinguish the blaze, and to assess the extent of material damage. The exact causes of the fire are currently unknown.
