La Marató de 3Cat has allocated over 12 million euros to 38 oncology research projects, ten of which involve researchers from Barcelona's Campus Clínic (4CB).

The projects address key challenges in oncology, including leukemias, lymphomas, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer. The grants will support new research avenues in immunotherapy, CAR-T therapies, precision medicine, and the identification of novel biomarkers to enhance patient diagnosis and treatment.
Susana Puig, Director of IDIBAPS and Research and Innovation at Clínic and 4CB, highlights, "La Marató de 3Cat is an extraordinary demonstration of society's commitment to biomedical research. This support enables the advancement of innovative and collaborative projects that will help us better understand cancer and move towards more precise and effective treatments for patients."
Out of 201 submitted projects, 38 initiatives were selected. Eight of these projects are led by Campus Clínic, while in the other two, center professionals collaborate with teams from different institutions.
Projects led by 4CB include defining surface proteins of drug-resistant mantle cell lymphoma for new immunotherapeutic strategies, studying clonal architecture and immune adaptation in acute leukemia, nanomedicine strategies for metastatic pancreatic cancer, epigenetic memory in B-cell cancers, and reprogramming the lymphoma microenvironment with CAR-T.
Other studies focus on evolutionary trajectories of lymphoma, the dynamics of the tumor immune microenvironment in breast cancer (DYNAMITE), reprogramming tumor cell identity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (REWIRE-PDAC), and research into mechanisms and therapeutic strategies to overcome immunotherapy resistance in Sézary syndrome.
Research is crucial for progress in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Funds from La Marató de 3Cat will enable deeper understanding of tumor mechanisms, investigation into treatment resistance, and the development of new personalized therapeutic strategies.
