The Barcelona Film Showcase, known as La Rambla Film Festival, will hold its inaugural edition from January 16 to 23, 2026, focusing on the first works by new filmmakers in the La Rambla area.

The festival, recently presented at FNAC Rambles, will have its core screenings at Cinema Maldà. Other key spaces hosting activities include the Museu de Cera and the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona, establishing the La Rambla area as a cultural epicenter.
During the presentation, the festival director, Santi Lapeira, revealed the first details of the event. Also participating were Raül Murcia and Toni Mascaró, members of the driving group, and Àlex Balletbó, president of the Amics de la Rambla association. The full program and parallel activities will be announced in early 2026.
In addition to the screenings, the festival also rewards the dissemination of the seventh art through literature. During the event on Friday 12, actress Sònia Masuda announced the twelve books nominated for the best cinema book published in 2025, covering genres such as fiction, essay, history, and pedagogy.
Selected works include titles such as MEDICATION TIME 50 ANIVERSARIO DE ALGUIEN VOLÓ SOBRE EL NIDO DEL CUCO by Albert Galera, VERSIÓ PERSONAL by Pep Clavera, OTRO LUIS BUÑUEL by Miguel Marías, and EL RETORN DE NÉSTOR ALMENDROS by Laura Gavaldà Mestre, among others.
