The protest, under the slogan 'No future without trains' ('Sin trenes no hay futuro'), started at five in the afternoon at Estació de França, where the Adif control center is located. Participants marched along Via Laietana until they reached Plaça Sant Jaume at 5:45 PM, where a manifesto was read. The Guàrdia Urbana counted 3,000 attendees, while organizers claimed the figure was 40,000.
Demonstrators expressed their outrage over weeks of constant incidents and 11 affected lines, accusing Adif, Renfe, and the State and Catalan governments of “systematic disinvestment.” Slogans heard included 'Without trains we are screwed' and 'We want a Cercanías that works every day'.
“"When it's not one thing, it's another, and when the catenary doesn't fail, the slopes fail, and everything fails. It's years and years, not 1, nor 2, nor 30, nor 40. It's years and years without the investment that is needed."
Several users shared their experiences. Marina, from the R3 line, described the situation as “unbearable,” while Ferran, a student, lamented the constant uncertainty that forced him to move away from home to be closer to his study center, incurring an added cost.
Another demonstrator, Isabel, criticized that the Generalitat governments have not “stood firm” against the incidents, prioritizing other projects like Barcelona Airport over the essential Rodalies service, which directly affects the lives of workers.
