British writer Mick Herron, recognized for his successful career in crime fiction and the creation of the The Slough House series, will receive the Pepe Carvalho Prize 2026 this Thursday, February 5, at the Saló de Cent in Barcelona.

The award ceremony, which can be followed live on betevé and other platforms starting at 6 PM, is one of the central events of the 21st edition of the crime novel festival, BCNegra 2026. Cultural journalist Víctor Giralt Jonama will host the live broadcast of the event.
The Pepe Carvalho Prize acknowledges Herron's trajectory, particularly his most famous work, the The Slough House saga. This spy novel series, featuring the veteran and unorthodox MI5 agent Jackson Lamb, has been successfully adapted for television.
The TV adaptation, titled Slow Horses, is an Apple TV+ production starring the acclaimed actor Gary Oldman. The BCNegra 2026 festival runs between February 2 and 8, featuring around fifty activities focused on the thematic axis of “mala vida” (bad life).
