Pastelería Rovira, a historic establishment located on Passeig de Maragall in Horta, has permanently closed after seven decades of activity, generating a wave of sadness among the Barcelona neighborhood.

Another emblematic local business has closed its doors in Barcelona. Pastelería Rovira, located on Passeig de Maragall in the Horta neighborhood, has ended a long history linked to the daily life of the community after more than 70 years of uninterrupted activity.

My parents were customers since they opened, and I always bought cream canes there. I haven't eaten them anywhere else, and the same goes for everything they made.

The closure has prompted an outpouring of messages of sadness and gratitude from customers on social media. Other residents highlighted the quality of the traditional product: “It makes me very sad, a very good product that has been around forever, and lovely people serving,” commented one customer.
A third neighbor lamented the loss of traditional commerce compared to current offerings, noting that the neighborhood “is no longer so much a neighborhood” without these establishments. The bakery bid farewell to its clientele with a large sign hung in the window, which served as a letter of thanks to the customers who have been part of its history for decades.
