The traditional basket bag has for generations been an object closely linked to Mediterranean life. Starting from this highly recognizable silhouette, the Barcelona-based artisanal bag brand Peter & Wolf BCN has created the new Kpax model, a reinterpretation of the traditional basket bag from a contemporary, urban, and architectural perspective.
A Mediterranean silhouette with sculptural character
The design retains the open shape, capacity, and lightness characteristic of the basket bag, but modifies its structure through the handle anchors. These elements create marked edges and vertices that contrast with the curved and rounded shapes of the ends.
The result is a piece with an almost sculptural personality, where organic lines and angular forms coexist. This geometric play is reminiscent of the architectural language of Antoni Gaudí, characterized by the combination of nature, structure, movement, and forms that eschew conventional rigidity.
The leather used for the handles, anchors, and closure system also introduces contrasts in texture and color that enhance the unique character of each combination.
Design and functionality for everyday use
Despite its clear aesthetic focus, the Kpax maintains the functionality that has kept the basket bag relevant over time. These are spacious, lightweight, and versatile bags, designed to accompany the user on a beach day, a getaway, an afternoon of shopping, or for everyday city life.
The Kpax features a magnetic closure reinforced with an external leather strap and two long leather handles, allowing the bag to be carried comfortably on the shoulder.
The interior is lined with black twill and includes a zippered pocket and two open pockets, designed to facilitate the organization of personal items.
The Kpax is available in two sizes and various color combinations, with versions in natural esparto grass, khaki green, and navy blue.

Like all other creations by Peter & Wolf BCN, the new Kpax are designed and handcrafted in Barcelona. Each piece is produced individually, in short runs, with special attention to materials, stitching, and finishes.
The brand champions a production method linked to slow fashion: fewer units, greater durability, and a more direct relationship between the designer, the manufacturing process, and the person who will ultimately use the piece.
