The Real Club de Golf El Prat will host the inaugural Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship, a tournament paying tribute to Severiano Ballesteros and initiating the path towards the 2031 Ryder Cup, set to take place in Caldes de Malavella.

This new championship, scheduled from May 7 to 10, will feature prominent golfers such as Jorge Campillo, Adri Arnaus, and Ángel Hidalgo. The chosen date is significant, as May 7 will mark the 15th anniversary of the passing of Ballesteros, affectionately known as 'Seve'.
As a tribute, participating players will wear Ballesteros' classic Sunday look, consisting of blue trousers, a navy blue sweater, and a white shirt. This initiative was announced by Guy Kinnings, CEO of the European Tour, during the official sponsorship presentation of Estrella Damm for the 2031 Ryder Cup, held at the old Damm factory in Barcelona.

"To commemorate these 15 years, we have sent a letter to all players urging them to wear the 'Seve look' on Sundays... blue trousers, navy blue sweater, and white polo shirt. It will be a beautiful sight, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Europeans playing on the PGA Tour also wore it."

The Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship is the first of five DP World Tour events linked to the 2031 Ryder Cup. This biennial competition, pitting Europe against the United States, will be held at Camiral, in Caldes de Malavella (Girona), marking the second time Spain has hosted the event, following the 1997 edition in Valderrama (Cádiz).
The 2031 Ryder Cup is expected to generate a significant economic impact, with an estimated over 500 million euros in direct revenue and the creation of approximately one thousand jobs. Jorge Villavecchia, General Manager of Estrella Damm, emphasized the company's commitment to golf and the Ryder Cup, highlighting Spain's consistent golfing talent and the event's importance for youth engagement.
