Storm Emilia is moving away from the Peninsula after causing torrential rains, but a new DANA located between Morocco and Algeria will bring instability and a slight drop in temperatures to Catalonia until the weekend.

Storm Emilia generated severe weather that forced authorities to activate multiple warnings for torrential rain and storms. In areas of the southern pre-coastal region of Tarragona, such as Priorat, and in l’Alt Empordà (Girona), over 180 l/m2 were accumulated in just 12 hours. Authorities urge caution while the weather episode lasts.
The Meteocat (Catalan Meteorological Service) maintains several warnings active until this Wednesday, especially in the far south of the territory, including the Tarragona regions of Montsià, Baix Ebre, Tarragonès, Baix Camp, and Terra Alta. Rainfall will be heavier on the Catalan coast and pre-coastal areas, where the yellow alert is due to the intensity of the showers, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, a new DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) located between Morocco and Algeria will bring precipitation to the eastern Peninsula, although it is expected to arrive with low intensity in Catalonia. Snowfall will reach the high altitudes of the Pyrenees, and temperatures will drop slightly, generally remaining between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.
Although a notable improvement is expected for Thursday, with clear skies and no precipitation, the weather will worsen again towards the weekend. The entry of a cold air mass will cause temperatures to drop sharply by Sunday, bringing widespread rain and snow in mountain areas, anticipating a winter atmosphere for the Christmas holidays.
