Author and politician Aleix Sarri presented his latest book, Ànima de República, in Barcelona, offering a historical analysis of the Catalan State prior to its fall in 1714.

Born in Barcelona in 1985, Sarri has spent over 15 years as a political advisor in the European Parliament. His new work, published by Comanegra, covers the period between 1409 and the end of the War of the Spanish Succession, focusing on the institutional development of Catalonia.

"One can speak of a Catalan State that was annihilated following 1714."

The book launch was held at Bellesguard Tower, a landmark designed by Antoni Gaudí. Sarri emphasized that the Generalitat de Catalunya was originally created to raise taxes for defense, a historical fact he uses to explain the long-standing political relationship with the Spanish State.
