The political party Aliança Catalana has decided to postpone the presentation of its lead candidate for next year's municipal elections in Barcelona, following the withdrawal of the chosen individual due to health reasons.

This Thursday, the president of Aliança Catalana (AC), Sílvia Orriols, announced the postponement of the mayoral candidate's presentation for the upcoming municipal elections in Barcelona. According to sources close to the party, the person designated to lead the list had to withdraw for health reasons, disrupting the planned schedule, as the presentation was initially set for Sant Jordi's Day.
The party has chosen not to disclose the identity of the candidate who withdrew, but the same sources emphasize that it was someone "absolutely committed to the project" and that their withdrawal was due to force majeure, not a "failure" of the party. Thus, Orriols has temporarily decided to postpone the announcement of the name that will lead the candidacy in the Catalan capital.

"Aliança Catalana will run in Barcelona and will sweep the capital of the country."

Aliança Catalana's participation in the Barcelona municipal elections is confirmed. The party assures that "we will have a strong candidate." Sílvia Orriols herself has expressed her confidence in the project via social media, stating that "those of us who have experienced (from within), with incredulity and hope, the meteoric expansion of the project, know that everything happens for a reason… We just need to be patient. Patient and loyal to the country.”
Surveys published so far suggest that Aliança Catalana could gain representation in the Barcelona City Council. The Barometer from last December, the latest published by the City Council, placed the party as the fourth force, with 3.9% in direct voting intention. A September survey in El Periódico gave the party 5.4% in voting intention, which would translate into two councilors. It is worth noting that in Barcelona, 5% of the votes are required to gain representation in the plenary.
Previously, several names had been speculated for the candidacy. Former Generalitat minister, Jaume Giró, claimed to have received an offer from Aliança Catalana to be the mayoral candidate, which he rejected, although the party denied it. Publicist Lluís Carrasco was also mentioned, who acknowledged contacts with the party, although both parties stated that these were for professional reasons, as Carrasco was negotiating to be Orriols's publicist.
