The Generalitat has advanced two key initiatives to expedite the construction of the future Clínic Campus in Barcelona and the Girona Health Campus, removing bureaucratic barriers for priority processing.

The declaration of general interest for both initiatives will allow projects to obtain "priority processing" for grid connection and capacity permits, a crucial step for facilities requiring very high energy power. For the future Clínic Campus, this new status will also facilitate the land designated for its location to no longer be classified as sports facilities.
The Government will also ratify the desealing of land owned by the University of Barcelona (UB), which will cease to be public domain assets linked to university services. The Generalitat will acquire this land for 135.25 million euros to dedicate it to the construction of the new hospital and research center.
Beyond urban planning procedures, the prior announcement for the international project competition to design the Clínic Campus has been published. The official call, scheduled for September, will seek to attract international architects and engineers. The winner, who will receive a contract close to 134 million euros, will be announced in the first quarter of 2028. This project will transform the upper part of Diagonal Avenue, connecting Barcelona, Esplugues de Llobregat, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Regarding the future Girona Health Campus, which will replace the current Josep Trueta Hospital, Infraestructures.cat has definitively awarded the architectural project to the UTE Pinearq, SLP & Brullet de Luna y Associats y SLP & PEGI Engineering, SL. This same UTE has been involved in projects such as the Hospital del Mar and the expansion of Bellvitge.
The design for the future Girona campus includes a large internal boulevard as the main circulation axis, with external plazas and landscaped areas featuring Mediterranean plantations, optimizing water management.
