The Vila Olímpica – Xavier Benguerel library has reopened its doors in Barcelona following a closure period to carry out improvement and modernization works on the facilities.

The intervention allowed for a complete renewal of equipment and furniture, as well as a redistribution of interior areas to adapt them to the current needs of users. Among the most notable changes, the Children's and Youth Literature Documentation Service has been unified on the upper floor, and differentiated areas for children and teenagers have been created with more functional elements.
The facility maintains its specialization in cinema, featuring a collection that exceeds 2,000 books and magazines, 6,000 films, and 600 original soundtracks. This area now includes an acoustic insulation system and a projection screen, allowing cultural activities to take place without affecting other library services.
In addition to improvements in lighting, climate control, and accessibility, new group workspaces and lounge areas with armchairs have been provided. This project is part of a broader municipal plan, which has allocated 5 million euros since the summer of 2024 to modernize the city's libraries.
