The Antiterrorist Coordination Cabinet, including top police officials like Josep Lluís Trapero, agreed to increase patrols at religious sites and transport hubs. This move comes as Barcelona is also highlighted in a Radical Storage report as the world's third city for tourist-related thefts, trailing only Paris and Rome.
Specific focus is being placed on the Sagrada Família and La Rambla, where high concentrations of visitors often lead to increased criminal activity. Police forces, including Mossos d'Esquadra, have also been instructed to heighten their own self-protection measures.
