Barcelona City Council has announced the creation of a new emergency coordination center at the Llac building, located in Les Tres Xemeneies, with an investment of 36.6 million euros.

The project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, will unify the Guàrdia Urbana, Bombers de Barcelona, Mossos d'Esquadra, and the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques in a single space. This new infrastructure will replace the current center on Lleida street, doubling the operational area to over 5,000 m².
The comprehensive renovation of the currently unused building will preserve iconic elements such as the ceramic lattice facade. The building will be distributed across several floors, combining joint control rooms, crisis areas, and rest spaces for staff, ensuring a more agile response to any incident in the city.
Technologically, the center will be equipped with state-of-the-art systems, including redundant communication networks and videowalls. Furthermore, sustainability criteria will be applied, such as reusing heat generated by IT equipment for climate control, thereby improving the facility's overall energy efficiency.
