The transformation of this main thoroughfare has created more pedestrian space, featuring significantly wider sidewalks and increased greenery, thereby improving the connection between the neighborhoods of Sant Gervasi – Galvany and El Farró.
A total area of approximately 15,000 square meters has been renovated. The new sidewalks now average 4.35 meters in width on each side, an increase of nearly two meters compared to the previous state. This expansion has allowed for the planting of 102 new trees, although those on the Llobregat side will be planted in the autumn due to temperature conditions.
The roadway has been configured with two uphill lanes, one designated for public transport and taxis, and one downhill lane. A service lane has also been maintained along the Besòs sidewalk, including linear spaces for loading and unloading, parking for motorcycles, disabled parking spots, spaces for health centers, bus stops, bicycle parking, and containers.
To enhance pedestrian mobility, new crosswalks have been created at key points such as Plaça de Molina, Sant Hermenegild – Copèrnic, Pàdua, and Sant Elies, in front of the Poeta Foix school. The paving and water drainage system throughout the area have also been renewed.
The electric company will remove nine elements (cabinets and lampposts) and two poles at the intersection of Balmes street and Ronda del General Mitre, which will be duly signposted.
These works are part of a broader plan to complete major urbanization projects in the city during the summer of 2026 and early 2027, including interventions on Avinguda Meridiana and Gran Via.
