The city of Barcelona is buzzing with activity ahead of the Pope's imminent visit, scheduled for this Wednesday. Preparations have significantly ramped up in the vicinity of the Sagrada Familia, where one of the visit's central events is expected: the blessing and inauguration of the Jesus Christ tower.
The streets near the basilica already show a landscape of preparations, with the installation of security fences, large information screens, and stage elements. Additionally, numerous signs have been posted prohibiting vehicle parking, including cars, motorcycles, and bicycles, from June 7th to June 11th, to ensure the event's safety and logistics.
The blessing and inauguration ceremony of the Jesus Christ tower, taking place on Wednesday, will be divided into two parts and is expected to draw thousands of attendees both inside and outside the temple. This event is part of the pontiff's tour of several Spanish cities, with Barcelona being his next stop after Madrid.
Attendees can already see plastic-covered chairs set up for the event, as well as a significant deployment of audiovisual equipment. Informational signage highlights the slogan "Together we will light the tower of Jesus Christ" and welcomes the Pope with illuminated signs.
