The decision by BEM, an entity also responsible for organizing the Cruïlla Festival, stems from a lack of guarantees regarding the immediate future of the iconic venue. The primary concern revolves around the necessary soundproofing works to prevent disturbances to neighbors, the scheduling of which has not been confirmed by the Barcelona City Council.
In late January, the city council informed BEM that soundproofing deficiencies would necessitate closing El Molino during the summer for these works. However, the absence of a defined start date and duration for these repairs has severely hampered the venue's activity planning.
Since last February, musical activities at El Molino had already been limited to weekends and reduced hours, closing by 11:00 PM. These restrictions were imposed to minimize noise disturbances to the neighborhood but have significantly impacted the viability of the programming.
“"The lack of clear scheduling made it difficult to forecast the venue's activity."
