Judge Alejandra Gil of Barcelona has ordered a 4,000 euro bail to proceed with a criminal complaint against the DGAIA child protection agency and former government officials.

The court order, issued this March, requires the Guardianes de la Inocencia association to pay the amount by March 20. This legal requirement allows the organization to act as a popular prosecution in the case involving high-ranking officials from the Social Rights department.
The lawsuit targets former ministers Chackir El Homrani and Violant Cervera, alleging crimes of malfeasance and failure to protect a 12-year-old victim. The investigation also covers financial irregularities in Girona previously flagged by the Audit Office and currently under review by the Anti-Fraud Office of Catalonia.
The association has expressed frustration over the delay in the proceedings, which began last July, but remains committed to the case through public donations to cover the required judicial deposit.
