The City Council, led by Jaume Collboni, has decided to broadcast the match on La 2 Cat, RTVE's channel for Catalonia. This choice of signal already proved successful during the semi-final between Spain and France, where La 2 Cat attracted 329,000 viewers in Catalonia with an 11.5% audience share.
The giant screen, initially planned for Les Corts, will finally be set up at the Parc del Fòrum, a venue with a larger capacity to accommodate the thousands of fans expected to follow the final.
This broadcasting format with Catalan narration can be seen as a gesture by the council to address criticism from more Catalanist sectors, who had questioned the decision to offer the broadcast.
“"Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, not the showcase of Spanish nationalism"
In parallel, the Torre Glòries, formerly known as Torre Agbar, conducted technical tests to illuminate with the colors of the Spanish flag and the message "CAMPEONES" should the Spanish team win against Argentina. These images, which circulated on social media, have also drawn criticism from pro-independence sectors.
