Sports Councilor David Escudé has presented the official program for the Tour de France Gran Départ in Barcelona, scheduled to begin this coming July.

The city is gearing up for a global sporting event that will feature a dedicated fan park in the Ciutat Vella district starting July 2nd. This area will host the only giant screen in the city for fans to watch the stages. The local government aims to transform the city with yellow lighting and commercial decorations to celebrate the prestigious race.

"In Barcelona, we will make history with the Tour start. The key is for all citizens to make it their own."

The economic forecast is optimistic, with expected returns of over 100 million euros, matching the success of previous hosts like Bilbao and Florence. Beyond the race, the city will launch a cycling education initiative in schools to promote the bicycle as a primary mode of urban transport.
