The transformation of Meridiana Avenue is entering its final phase with a new paving operation scheduled from August 1st to 14th. These works will cause traffic and public transport disruptions on the stretch between Felip II and Fabra i Puig streets.
The paving will be carried out in two phases to minimize inconvenience. Between August 1st and 7th, the lanes entering the city will be paved, while from August 8th to 14th, the same will be done for the outgoing lanes. At least one lane per direction will remain open for traffic at all times.
Interurban buses will modify their routes, terminating at Fabra i Puig, and only through services will run on Meridiana. Additionally, during the preceding week, several key intersections will be paved, including those with Concepció Arenal, Riera d'Horta, and Dublín streets, as well as Felip II street.
This paving is one of the last major milestones of a project that began in 2025 and is expected to be completed in the autumn of this year. The redevelopment will transform Meridiana into a sustainable mobility axis with two traffic lanes, one for buses, a central bike lane, greener sidewalks with nearly 275 new trees, and 7,200 square meters of flowerbeds.
The improvement also includes the creation of new pedestrian crossings on Honduras, Martí Molins, Pegàs-Dublín, and La Jota streets, increasing the total number of crossings from nine to fifteen to enhance connectivity between the Sant Andreu and Sagrera neighborhoods.
