Basque chef Martín Berasategui, known for his culinary talent and nine Michelin stars, has unveiled his latest venture in Barcelona: Bera. This new establishment, located in the 'lobby' of the Hotel Monument on Paseo de Gracia, aims to provide a more direct, recognizable, and relaxed gastronomic experience, while maintaining the signature elegance and quality associated with the chef.
Bera replaces the former restaurant Oria, which lost one of its Michelin stars. The new concept focuses on dishes made with excellent produce, with an average price ranging from 50 to 60 euros without drinks, considered accessible for a five-star hotel setting. The intention is for diners to want to "return," according to the chef himself.
The team led by Gabriele Milani executes a tempting menu for lovers of market cuisine with contemporary twists. Highlights include XXL Cantabrian anchovies with cider vinegar-marinated anchovy, 'steak tartar' with crispy tortilla, truffle 'bikini' with butifarra and 'scamorza', cod omelette with confit onion, and roasted leek with cured yolk emulsion. Dishes like Mediterranean tuna 'tataki' and 'wagyu' roast beef are also featured.
The sweet selection includes the classic apple 'tatin' tart with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. The restaurant operates with the motto 'Non-stop cuisine,' open from 11 am to 1 am, offering everything from light bites like bikinis and Russian salad to full lunch and dinner service. The space is versatile, with various seating options, including a cocktail bar and a private room for events.
