Tensions between FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol fan groups have escalated with graffiti by Boixos Nois appearing at emblematic locations near the RCDE Stadium, including the Estatua de la Afición, ahead of the derby match.

The rivalry between FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol has reached a new peak. Following the match last January at the RCDE Stadium, where Barça won 0-2, the build-up was marked by offensive posters placed by radical Espanyol fans, such as those from Curva RCDE, on bus shelters across Barcelona, including areas around the Spotify Camp Nou.
These posters displayed messages like 'FCK FCB' and 'puta Bar$a' in Sant Joan Despí. Additionally, offensive chants were heard against Barça goalkeeper Joan García, who had been signed from the white-and-blue club. Now, on the eve of the return match, the Boixos Nois have responded with acts of vandalism.
The radical Barcelona fans have opted for a more rudimentary method, spray-painting areas around the Espanyol stadium. On the morning before the derby, graffiti appeared at iconic meeting points for Espanyol fans, such as Casa Pepe and Bar Los Cazadores, and even on the Estatua de la Afición.
On the aforementioned statue, the club's crest was defaced with red paint, signed with the name of Boixos Nois, and the Curva was labeled as 'snitches'. Authorities are now investigating these incidents to identify the perpetrators of the vandalism, as reported by Cadena Cope. RCD Espanyol has announced its intention to file a complaint regarding the events.
