The summer of 2026 has marked a new record in Barcelona regarding tropical nights. The meteorological station at Can Bruixa has counted 52 nights where the minimum temperature did not drop below 25 degrees Celsius.
According to data from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat), this figure surpasses previous recorded maximums. The summers of 2003 and 2022 had registered 51 and 46 tropical nights respectively, making 2026 the year with the highest persistence of high nighttime temperatures.
These figures contrast notably with years such as 2000, 2007, and 2014, when the Can Bruixa station did not record a single night above 25 degrees throughout the entire summer period.
