The Castellar City Council has initiated an investment plan of 3,877,000 euros to renew asphalt and sidewalks in the urban center, Sant Feliu del Racó, and its developments, enhancing safety and accessibility.

The public space of Castellar is undergoing a significant renovation with the execution of an asphalting and sidewalk maintenance plan. This initiative, covering the urban center, Sant Feliu del Racó, and its developments, has a total investment of 3,877,000 euros. The objective is to renew pavements, repair sidewalks, eliminate architectural barriers, and consequently improve the safety and comfort of travel on foot and by vehicle.
The prioritization for asphalting has been based on a detailed technical study of the pavement conditions, integrated into the municipal geographic information system. Work has already commenced in the industrial estates, areas particularly affected by heavy traffic, and interventions are also planned for various developments that had raised complaints about the state of their roads. The plan includes the renewal of asphalt and sidewalks in sectors such as Aire-Sols A-B, C, and D, Ca n’Avellaneda, Can Font, El Balcó, and El Racó, as well as actions in the aggregated area of Sant Feliu del Racó to improve accessibility and organize routes.
In total, the public space action plan will cover 73,100 square meters. 64,900 square meters of asphalt will be renewed (28,000 in the urban center and 36,900 in Sant Feliu and developments), along with 8,200 square meters of sidewalks (3,500 in the urban center and 4,700 in Sant Feliu and developments). These interventions will focus on streets with intensive use, sections with deteriorated pavements, and points requiring accessibility or road safety improvements, utilizing carry-over funds from the previous fiscal year.
The project execution has begun on Carrer de la Garrotxa, in the industrial estate of Pla de la Bruguera. Although work will be carried out in phases to maintain vehicle passage, alternative access routes are recommended. Access to industrial units will be maintained, though it may be temporarily restricted during asphalt laying in front of each entrance. This approach will be replicated in the urban center, with works expected to last throughout the year and conclude before December 31st.
This project is part of approximately thirty actions planned for this year, with a total investment of 15.1 million euros for the current fiscal year, adding to 4.1 million from ongoing actions from previous years. Furthermore, 5.4 million are allocated to facilities such as the new Municipal Swimming Pool Colobrers, and 2.4 million to housing for Playtex.
