The Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes has announced that Catalonia will receive 35 new prosecutor positions, with 12 to be assigned to the Barcelona prosecutor's office, aiming to strengthen the judicial system.

This measure is part of a national plan that foresees the creation of 200 new positions across Spain. The increase in staff in Catalonia will represent an 8% rise in the prosecutor's office workforce, growing from 433 to 468 professionals, a figure equivalent to the growth recorded in the last seven years.
The distribution of the new positions will be staggered throughout the Catalan territory. Twelve courts will receive an additional position, including localities such as Badalona, L'Hospitalet, Sabadell, Terrassa, Figueres, Olot, Reus, and El Vendrell, as well as the areas of Granollers-Mollet del Vallès, Mataró-Arenys de Mar, El Prat, and the Lleida prosecutor's office.
Furthermore, four areas will see an increase of two positions: the Manresa-Igualada-Vic area, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, the Vilanova i la Geltrú-Vilafranca del Penedès area, and the Tarragona prosecutor's office. The Girona prosecutor's office will receive the largest reinforcement with three new additions.

"This increase should allow for improved system efficiency and reduced deadlines."

the Minister of Justice and Democratic Quality
At the national level, the prosecutor's staff will expand from 2,804 to 3,004, reflecting a commitment to reinforcing judicial resources to ensure a more agile and effective functioning of justice.
