The detainees, two men and three women aged between 22 and 48, face charges related to public health offenses for drug trafficking and electricity fraud. The investigation began last October following police intelligence about a potential illegal cultivation.
During surveillance, officers detected a strong smell of narcotics emanating from the property and linked five individuals to the activity. Concurrently, a fraudulent electricity connection with high and irregular consumption was identified, with investigators determining that the suspects had "seriously" tampered with the communal facilities by drilling into the building's basement.
Police highlighted that these manipulations are "increasingly complex and daring" and have been a cause of fires in the area. The operation, authorized by investigating court number 5 of El Prat de Llobregat, also involved municipal urban planning technicians to assess the property's condition.
One of the detainees had prior police records. The arrested individuals were brought before the court.
