The national coordinator of the Comuns has urged parties to support the housing decree, which includes the extension of rental contracts, and has ruled out a coalition for the municipal elections in Barcelona.

The Comuns party is intensifying its efforts to secure the approval of the housing decree, one of the key proposals of the coalition government. The party's national coordinator has expressed confidence that other political formations will "rise to the occasion" and not seek "excuses" to block the measure.
Negotiations are underway with all parliamentary groups in the Congress of Deputies to prevent the decree, which includes the extension of rental contracts, from being rejected. The vote is scheduled for April 28, and the current week is considered "decisive" to gather the necessary support.

"Everyone must rise to the occasion of this political moment, and we have a decisive week ahead that must allow this measure to become effective."

Furthermore, the Comuns representative has attempted to re-establish dialogue with Junts, distancing herself from previous statements by a Spanish government vice-president who had labeled the leaders of the sovereignist formation as "racists." These remarks had led to a breakdown in relations between Junts and Sumar.
Regarding local politics, the national coordinator has closed the door on a potential coalition with other parties for the municipal elections in Barcelona. She emphasized that the Comuns are a "very consolidated" force in the Catalan capital and that their objective is to regain the mayoralty with their own project.

"We will do it with our solid and consolidated project in Barcelona, which can allow us to win and leave behind these years in which the City Council has been more in the hands of the interests of a few."
