The Sants station was marked by a climate of waiting and uncertainty early on Friday. Although circulation was recovered across all Rodalies lines, the service started outside the scheduled time and with major delays. Workers indicated that normality would be progressively restored.
The situation caused bewilderment among users, who moved between platforms searching for trains to depart. Some trains, such as an R1 service bound for Arenys de Mar, remained stopped for over 20 minutes, despite being scheduled to leave at 7:30.
“"There should be more train frequency."
This resumption follows two days of interrupted service stemming from the derailment of an R4 train in Gelida on Tuesday, which resulted in the death of a young trainee driver, and the subsequent walkout by Renfe drivers. The drivers agreed to return to work after reviewing line safety alongside Adif.
Despite being peak commuting time, the passenger flow at Sants was unusually low, with fewer than fifty people waiting. This low presence reflects the public's lack of confidence in the immediate normalization of the service.
“"At least the time on the screen is decreasing, that reassures me."
