This summer, the Trambesòs service will undergo major interruptions. From July 3rd to September 13th, line T4 will have partial cuts between the Verdaguer and El Maresme stops. Concurrently, lines T5 and T6 will cease operation between Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica and Sant Martí de Provençals. These disruptions are estimated to affect approximately 2.7 million journeys.
From September 14th, line T4 will resume full service. Lines T5 and T6 will also restart operations between Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica and Glòries, although the section between Glòries and Sant Martí de Provençals will remain affected.
The most extended disruptions will affect lines T5 and T6, lasting until spring 2027. From September 30th, only the Glòries and Can Jaumandreu stops will be out of service. These works include constructing a second track on the sea side of Gran Via, between Ciutat de Granada street and Rambla del Poblenou, and implementing the new route for lines reaching Glòries via Diagonal.
During the summer, two special bus services will be provided to cover the affected routes. One bus will replace lines T5 and T6, stopping at Marina on Meridiana, but not reaching Ciutadella Vila Olímpica. The City Council and ATM also recommend using metro line 4 as an alternative.
The construction works will also impact general mobility in the area. Diagonal will be closed to city-bound traffic from Tànger street, with diversions for private vehicles, buses, and bicycles. The Diagonal cycle lane between Ciutat de Granada and Glòries will also be affected.
The reurbanization of Gran Via plans include a 21-meter central promenade and side lanes for bicycles and service vehicles. A single platform for buses and trams, the first of its kind in Spain, will be created. Additionally, pedestrian crossings at Plaça de les Glòries will be improved to connect with Diagonal and Gran Via.
Starting in September, Badajoz street (between Diagonal and Meridiana) will also be renovated, gaining a bidirectional cycle lane at the expense of one of the four uphill lanes. The final configuration will feature three uphill lanes, one downhill lane for buses, and the bidirectional cycle lane.
