The Creamedia incubation program has finished its 25th edition, supporting eleven new startups from the creative and cultural industries sector. The initiative, led by Barcelona Activa in collaboration with the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals, the Fundació Catalunya Cultura, Productores Audiovisuals de Catalunya, and the Fundació Carulla, has provided six months of personalized advice, training, networking activities, and co-working space to foster collaboration.
The eleven participating startups have presented diverse proposals. Among them are Batze, focused on digital archives for 3D printing of furniture; Tinta il·lustrada, specializing in botanical illustration; Ubuntu Contemporary, dedicated to managing emerging art exhibitions; and 3000 per cent, a film production company with projects for rural areas. Other accompanied projects include Woxl, The Grow Collection, Crylle Books, Vertebra, Cintia, Cultura Lab, and Sat Nam, a yoga publishing house.
Joan Adell, founder of Sat Nam, highlighted the program's assistance in "keeping his feet on the ground" and focusing the project's energy with a more solid and innovative perspective, thanks to the interdisciplinary professionals who guided them.
At the closing event, five projects were selected as finalists after a three-minute elevator pitch and evaluation by a committee. The assessment criteria included innovation, city impact, scalability, social impact, team, and technical and economic viability.
Since its inception in 2009, the Creamedia program has supported 370 projects. Two editions are organized annually, with an average of 12 incubated projects per edition. Proposals must have validated their business model and offer value to Barcelona's cultural industries, improving strategy, funding search, and legal structure.
The program has contributed to the creation and consolidation of projects such as Sra Gallery, Wimen Festival, Filmtopia, Plou Design, Aldo Atypical, Collectivo Animal, Plas PLas, Scinions, La Gare d’Art, Inartem, Bridge 48, and Reolivar.
The next edition will commence in October 2026. Applications are open on the website until September 13th. Barcelona Activa supports nearly 250 startups annually, and Creamedia is one of its sectoral programs aimed at diversifying the city's economic fabric.
