A joint operation between the Guardia Civil and Mossos d'Esquadra has dismantled a gang dedicated to stealing metals from companies in Catalonia and La Franja, resulting in five arrests and four individuals under investigation.

Members of the criminal group posed as workers to gain access to facilities and steal approximately 12,000 kilograms of metals. The total value of the stolen materials, combined with the damage caused, amounts to around 120,000 euros. The individuals involved, aged between 17 and 67, are residents of Barcelona and Santa Coloma de Gramenet.
The investigation began last October, following reports from two companies in Baix Cinca that had suffered thefts of copper coils. Subsequently, a similar incident was detected at a company in the Tarragona area. The thieves gained entry to the premises by climbing or forcing locks, and once inside, they pretended to be employees to avoid detection. The robberies were carried out during the day and on weekdays.
The inquiries led to the identification of the alleged perpetrators, revealing that they had also carried out robberies at companies in Barcelona using the same modus operandi, stealing copper, brass, and aluminum. The arrests took place between late March and early April, with a total of five people apprehended and four others investigated. They are accused of seven counts of robbery with force, two counts of metal theft, and one count of belonging to a criminal group. The detainees were released on charges after appearing before the courts.
