The automotive company Ebro has announced the manufacturing of a new 100% electric utility vehicle at its Zona Franca de Barcelona plant, reinforcing its commitment to reindustrialization and sustainable mobility.

This new vehicle, described as a "functional, versatile electric utility vehicle designed for the city," joins the S700, S800, S900, and S400 models already produced at the plant, marking its first fully electric offering.
The announcement comes at a crucial time, as Ebro's Chinese ally, Chery, has yet to confirm the start date for production of its models at the same facility. Initially, Chery's Omoda 5 electric and Jaecco 5 were expected to be the first to be manufactured in the Zona Franca, with updates anticipated this year.

"This project represents a firm step in the commitment to develop sustainable mobility from Spain, and to integrate global technology into a local production process that allows for the generation of industrial value, employment, and productive capacity at a key moment for the transformation of the sector."

Ebro's new electric vehicle will feature an electric propulsion system with a 90 kW (approximately 122 HP) motor located on the rear axle. It will offer two battery options, both providing a range of nearly 400 kilometers. Fast charging will allow the battery to go from 30% to 80% in 20 to 30 minutes.
This compact, five-door utility vehicle is designed for urban, peri-urban, and occasional interurban travel, aiming to make electric mobility accessible for daily use. Meanwhile, Seat's plant in Martorell (Baix Llobregat) is preparing to begin series production of the Cupra Raval, its first electric model.
