This Saturday, the Ateneu del Clot hosts the 6th Educational Assembly of Catalonia, a key meeting for the sector's future. The gathering, which began at ten in the morning, brings together teachers, educational support staff, leisure education professionals, and union representatives. The main objective is to define potential protest actions and strike models for the 2026-2027 academic year, including options such as a total indefinite strike, strikes by territory, or a progressive approach.
The agenda also includes an assessment of the current educational situation, particularly after the consultation on the pre-agreement reached between the Department of Education and some unions. The next steps are to be analyzed, along with designing pressure actions and a strategy for the summer, once the school year has concluded.
Let's stop the social and educational emergency
Regarding recent mobilizations, last Sunday a demonstration took place in Barcelona with thousands of teachers, families, and students under the slogan "Let's stop the social and educational emergency." This protest was called by unions such as USTEC, CGT, Intersindical, CNT, and COS, which did not sign the pre-agreement with the Department.
In contrast, unions like CCOO and UGT had already signed the agreement in March. Subsequently, the Professors de Secundària union also joined after negotiations that led to some demands being met. USTEC, despite being favorable to the pre-agreement, decided not to officially adhere after a vote among teachers showed 65.1% against it.
