The detection of the 13 new positive specimens remains within the six-kilometer radius around the initial foci, with no cases detected in livestock farms in the area. In total, 635 wild boars have been analyzed, of which 9.4% tested positive. Authorities continue the search for carcasses and are preparing capture activities to reduce the species' population density.

Last week, the Generalitat established the Wild Boar Table, an organization designed to address overpopulation "territory by territory" with the goal of halving the number of specimens. This table will meet regularly at least twice a year to monitor capture measures. During the 2024-2025 season, over 63,000 wild boars were already captured.
Regarding the economic impact, Unió de Pagesos (UP) warned this Tuesday of the severe consequences for the pork sector. The union calculated that losses in December alone amounted to 63 million euros. This figure could multiply by 12 throughout 2026, the estimated duration of market restrictions to control the outbreak.
The most affected producers are those located within the Barcelona radius and within the 20 kilometers where the outbreak was detected. According to UP data, farmers have gone from earning 26 euros per pig to suffering a loss of 36 euros per specimen due to ASF.
